Reported bugs from beta4 fixed New Rox cheatcode for live use. (icons on desktop) http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/Test-releases/antiX-M8.5 Sorry no delta patches available Be careful with wicd. If you upgrade it, it will break. It is a wicd bug in Debian. - fixed! Added: wicd fixed, thanks to Davo.

Installed it on my Acer Aspire One with no problem--love the Netbook menu entry! Wireless was not found by Wicd, but manually setting the essid and running dhclient connected me. Apps seem to open a window larger than the screen, will be testing more.
Could you remind me how to make fluxbox the permanent WM? Do I have to edit one of those hidden files in /home/username, or does there now exist an easier way? EDIT: never mind, I remembered the file and got it right after a few miscues. The wireless did not hold, so had to do it manually again. And it remains unseen by Wicd (no encryption, no hidden, etc.) EDIT EDIT: 1) app dimensions only for geany opened up through Control Center; used alt-leftclick to drag the screen in reach, hit the maximize button so it filled the screen correctly, then right-clicked on taskbar to get it to remember dimensions 2) ceni sees the router fine, and after connecting once with it it remembers for reboots. After all our praise for Wicd, it seems to be having troubles these days...

Best to wait. RC1 will be pulled for the moment as nvidia doesn't compile

I know the fix Jerry, but it involves (potentially) a lot of hoops, so best to pull it.
Sorry about that. |

Will I have to reinstall or can I leave it and upgrade?

rc1 works ok if you don't need nvidia/ati drivers.
To fix, you will need to enable the MEPIS8 repo, install the linux-kbuild from MEPIS 8 repo, this should build linux-headers-2.6.32-mepis properly, and then you will be ok. wicd 1.7 is still broken though. (in Debian) so best to pin it if you use it. Added: Alternatively, Jerry, install the latest liquorix (or sidux) kernel. No problems there. Last edited by anticapitalista : 01-30-2010 at 02:39 PM. |

Google was no help with this ...tons of bug-reports on this issue the last few days (weeks) ...even one from Joey Hess (a leading Debian-Installer dev) ... all still unsolved. Looked like a dead-end ...but I actually enjoy this type of puzzle (forget using google and just hack around). I did manage to get wicd 1.7 up-and-running again (after the botched upgrade) though. It took a little digging around under-the-hood to pinpoint a Python .py module registration problem. Basically, wicd was split from single package to several sub-packages and the python-registration/support in dpkg's post-install triggers (python-support/-dbus/-modules) got somewhat botched. Anti, could you maybe quickly test the fix out in a fromiso, virtualbox (vmware) ... just to make sure it works? I think it should be fine ...If OK, you could maybe incorporate directly in the next ISO. FIX: Code:
# wicd -foe # update-python-modules -f # cp /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/wicd/* /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/wicd/ # /etc/init.d/dbus restart # wicd -foe The first command is just to show it starting up in Fail mode (module ImportError tracebacks). The last command is also unnecessary (just shows success i.e. just hit Ctrl+C to kill "wicd -foe" process here). Then go straight to antiX ControlCenter > Network > wicd. Should work fine - still prefer wpagui though |
